Rob Mitchell

Rob Mitchell brings his extensive experience in graphic design and print production to Graphics 101. In 1988, Rob began seven years as inaugural Art Director of Beach Happy magazine, one of the first publications to feature surfing, skateboarding, snowboarding and music. During this same period, Rob developed his production skills in the pre-press department of a large printing company. The experience led to Rob starting Electric Ink Graphics, a freelance design business, in 1991.

In 1995, Rob founded Electric Ink magazine, the pioneering nationally distributed pocket-size youth-market magazine. Under Rob's leadership as both publisher and creative director through 1998, Electric Ink attracted advertisers such as Vans, Sony, Volcom, Billabong, Capitol Records, Gotcha, Quiksilver, Geffen Records, and Fresh Jive, while earning acclaim in publications such as Playboy, Fortune, and Folio.

As an art director and project manager, Rob has worked closely with clients such as KROQ (Los Angeles), MTV2, Live Nation, JACK-FM (Los Angeles), Live 105 (San Francisco), Power 106 (Los Angeles), ESPN Winter X-Games, WXRK (New York), Z100 (New York), WHFS (Washington DC), KZLA (Los Angeles), and many others.
